***"Notice to Long Beach Yacht Club members and guests regarding the COVID-19 situation and ongoing Club events. The LBYC Board of Directors and COVID Task Force have continued to meet to identify and implement strategies that keep our members, guests, and staff safe and our Club active during the pandemic. We recognize this is a time for joyous social gatherings of families and friends. We also are aware of the local and global rise in COVID-19 cases attributed to the omicron variant. There is still much to understand about this new variant, but it is widely established as being significantly more transmissible and causing breakthrough infections in those with past infection or who are un-boosted regarding their vaccination status. Many of the cases reported are in younger individuals with less severity noted. However, cases are rising in hospitals, especially in unvaccinated individuals, and it is still unclear the expected severity when compared to prior strains in those who are older or have underlying medical comorbidities. It is the goal of the Board and the COVID Task Force to keep LBYC members, guests, and staff safe and to be within the guidance of public health department of the City of Long Beach and other health authorities. With the upcoming events at the Club, please be aware of these requirements and recommendations. Requirements: 1. All members and guests are to be masked indoors when not seated AND actively eating or drinking. 2. Select doors and windows will remain open during hours of operation. Please dress appropriately for your warmth and comfort if seated near these areas and do not close doors or windows. 3. All members and guests should perform a self-symptom check prior to entry of the club. 4. Any member or guest with high-risk exposure to someone with COVID MUST quarantine from the Club as outlined by the CDC guidance (see below infographic) A temporary requirement for proof of full vaccination (as defined by the CDC) or negative test (antigen test within 24 hours or PCR test within 48 hours) will be required for all members and guests attending organized, calendared events starting January 15, 2022. We recognize that this is not currently required by the City of Long Beach, but given the current surge in cases, we are prioritizing the safety of our members, guests, and staff at the Club. This policy will be reevaluated routinely as caseloads change. Again, this only applies to age groups currently approved for vaccination by the CDC (currently ages 5 and above). Sincerely,
Norm Rich (General Manager), The LBYC Board, and the COVID Taskforce Click here to view the latest Isolation and Quarantine information from the Long Beach Health Department."
